Last month my family and I attended our very first major league soccer game, the Houston Dynamo vs. Montreal.
Unfortunately, we live in Houston and avoiding the heat is impossible, especially at the BBVA Compass Stadium as it is completely open (no roof). Thankfully, we attended an evening game so the sun wasn’t too bad. If you do plan on going to a game do be prepared to wear loose, lightweight clothing. I ended up wearing a simple grey tee, with my favorite maternity shorts I snagged at Ross along with my favorite Nike kicks (comfort is key for me these days). Also, make sure you drink plenty of water before going. Hydration is key here! I can’t even begin to tell you how many waters I kept going back and forth to buy I was so thirsty.
The stadium is actually really gorgeous, though. There’s really not a bad seat in the entire stadium. Of course the concessions are what they are – expensive, mediocre food, with extremely long lines during halftime. But I mean, its part of the experience, right?
